Frequently asked questions

Leather Care and Use

How do I store and take care of my leather product?

  • Store pieces flat or hanging to help maintain shape and movement.
  • Keep leather away from prolonged moisture and direct heat.
  • Avoid excessive folding or crushing of the falls.

How do I clean my flogger?

  • If needed, wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after use.
  • Occasional conditioning with a quality leather conditioner can help maintain softness and flexibility. Always test products on a small area first.

Will the leather soften or change over time?

  • Leather naturally develops character with use and handling. Some leathers may soften slightly over time while still maintaining their structure and feel.
  •  Leather develops a richer patina while still maintaining its overall structure and feel.

Will every flogger look exactly the same?

  • No. Many of the leathers I use are hand-selected and naturally unique. Grain, texture, color variation, and patterning can vary slightly from piece to piece, especially with exotic and specialty hides.

Will natural leather have imperfections or variation?

  • Yes. Unlike synthetic materials, genuine leather carries natural variation in grain, texture, markings, and character. Small healed scars, wrinkles, and tonal differences are a normal part of authentic leather and contribute to the individuality of each piece.

Design and Custom Orders

Will my item look exactly like the photos?

Because each piece is handcrafted using natural materials, variations in wood grain, leather texture, color, and pattern are normal. These differences are part of what makes each piece unique and one of a kind.

Are all pieces handmade?

Yes. Each piece is individually handcrafted using hand-selected woods, leathers, and specialty materials. Variations in grain, figure, texture, color, and natural character ensure that every finished piece carries its own distinct identity. Rather than factory uniformity, the focus is on refined craftsmanship and the individuality of handmade work.

Can I request custom materials or designs?

Custom builds may include requested wood species, leather selections, handle styles, finishes, colors, and overall design direction, depending on material availability and build feasibility. Each material responds differently to shaping, carving, and finishing, so certain exotic woods may require adjustments to handle geometry or detailing to preserve both durability and the natural character of the material. Final handle shaping and construction details are ultimately determined by the maker to ensure the finished piece meets both aesthetic and structural standards.

Can two pieces be made exactly alike?

Because each piece is handcrafted using natural materials, exact duplication is rarely possible. Variations in wood grain, leather texture, color, and figure are part of what makes each piece unique.

Are exotic materials always available?

Availability of certain woods, leathers, and specialty materials may vary depending on sourcing and supply. Some materials may only be available in limited quantities or as one-of-a-kind selections. Please reach out for availability.

Crystal Handles

Each crystal-handled piece is handcrafted using genuine crystal or glass components selected for their beauty and uniqueness. While every effort is made to ensure durability and secure construction, crystal and glass are inherently more fragile than traditional wood or metal handles.

These pieces are intended for responsible use and should be inspected before and after each use. Dropping, striking hard surfaces, excessive force, misuse, or accidental impact may cause damage, cracking, or breakage.

Natural variations, minor inclusions, bubbles, or imperfections within the crystal or glass are normal characteristics and are not considered defects.

By purchasing a crystal-handled item, the buyer acknowledges the unique nature of these materials and accepts responsibility for proper use, care, and inspection.

Woodcare FAQ

How do I care for my wood products?

Each wood handle is crafted from natural hardwoods and finished to highlight the grain, depth, and character of the material. To preserve its appearance, avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, excessive heat, or direct sunlight. Clean gently using a soft cloth and avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Periodic application of a wood-safe wax or conditioner may help maintain the finish and enhance the natural beauty of the wood over time.

Will the wood grain look exactly like the photos?

No two pieces of wood are identical. Variations in grain pattern, color, figure, and natural markings are part of what makes each handcrafted piece unique.

Do exotic woods require different care?

Some exotic hardwoods contain natural oils or dramatic figuring that may age and develop character differently over time. Minor changes in tone, sheen, or texture are normal and part of the natural aging process of real wood.

Can wood change color over time?

Yes. Certain woods may gradually darken, deepen in tone, or develop a richer patina with exposure to light, handling, and age. This is a natural characteristic of genuine hardwoods.

What finish is used on the wood?

Wood finishes are selected based on the species, grain, and intended feel of each piece. Depending on the build, finishes may include hand-applied Danish oil, stains, waxes, or protective topcoats such as polyurethane to enhance the natural depth, durability, and character of the wood while maintaining a refined hand feel.
